In Reykjavik, geothermal power is all around you. Veitur Utilities, Reykjavik Energy’s subsidiary, operates the world’s largest geothermal district heating system in the capital area with more than 80 million cubic meters of hot water from low and high temperatures sources delivered to its customers. This walking tour is a journey through the history of geothermal utilisation in Iceland and how geothermal transformed Icelandic society and economy in the 20th century.
